N*>ycl A novel way of dipposing of an old love affair is that adopted a few months since by one of the brightest ahd prettiest, belles. l, This young lady wears as many hearty ' dandling from her belt as does an Indian brave of scalpa. Wishing at the time mentioned to announce the breaking of her engagement to a young army officor now htationed in the far Wept; but formerly well s .■ known in Washington, ahe issued invitations for a luncheon to a few of her most; intimate friends The centrepiece of the pretty spread table was formed of a ma*a of prettily bloeeomp, in the midst of which, hpuvily draped with crape, rested the young officers photo. Thus, with appropriate ceremonies, did she bury the old love, believing, doubtless, in the adage that " ifc is well to bo'off with the old love before you are on with the new." Since then the date of her marriage with the young naval o/hcpr has been eet ior an early day .in October. •>
