A hurricane swept over the .town of Nancy on August lith, doing' an im;mei> se amount of damage.' The winds stripped the vines, uprooted trees, and levelled houses. One soldier was killed, and many other persons iDjured. An imbecile widow named Leboi, residing at Sellea, St. Denis, was burned to death at the stake by her sons on August 16, While she was burning, they sprinkled holy water over her, and. when arrested, said they had destroyed her for relisious motives. The woman was 60 years old, and bad the name of being a sorceress. Boulauger, the French Minister of War, has prohibited the publication of a pamphlet giving his bioqrraphy. and referring to the scandal witE which his name was connected.
