Silverton. — Crushing 1 operations for this mine are now proceeding at the Mar tli a battery, where ton head of stampers are running continuously in t the reduction of quartz which is sloping for a handsome return. The parcel .to be treated amounts to about 50 tons, and this will ba finished ftbout the middle of next week, when cleaning up and retorting will take place. Union. — In the level going north the reef has widened out considerably during the week,* being now fully sft in thickness, and the stone is all of good quality. Fifty tons of quartz hare been forwarded to the Martha Battery, where 10 head of stampers are now running full time upon it ; and the crushing is shaping for a return that should be highly remunerative. Martha Extended. — Stevenson and party have completed their contract for driving the low level 100 ft, and the manager is now about the let a contract for driving another 100 ft in the same direction. t Ro.emont. — The work o£ extending the low level has again been resumed by Sorenson and party, who have made arrangements for driving right up to the company's boundary, a distance of about soft.
