THE KIMBERLEY GOLDFIELD.
The Disappointed Diggers. 1 » Nk\Vcastlp, August 20. Tho steamship Triumph, -which has arrived from Derby, with 31 diggers from Kimberloy, will coal here, and thon proceed to Lyttelt >n. One of tho diggers st'atoa that ho went with 200 others from New Zealand, and is greatly disappointed aa he had thrown up a good situutiqnto go. On their arrival at King's bound tho first unpleasantness that occurred was the 12} per cent, duty which they had to pay. They remained with others in Dovby waiting for nows, and in a fow days two long-experienced miners came in trom tho diggings. They advised tho new chums to go no further, but tho latter, overcome by a report that one ov two 20oz nuggets had been found, made up their minds to go on. Parties were made up. some with horses, and others on foot, with wheelbarrows. It is doubtful whothor the latter parties will ever reach Kimborley. It is also doubtful whethc thoro Avill be enough provisions there, as tho storekeepers are not taking much naina to replenish their stock. An opinion prevails that tho storekeepers only want to get rid of their stock and then clear out. The country around Derby is very barren, and tho roads pass throngh rod sand. There is no horsefeed between Derby and Kimborley beyond the little which can bo picked up on tho road, which ia little enough. The advice of the diggers by Triumph is for intending visitors to keep as far 'a way from thesupposedKimberleygoldfield as possible for the present; it is no good as yot, but might turn out woll. Meals are now 2S. each, but tho food is reported hardly fit for use. Tho diggors aro walking about Newcastle, spreading discouraging nows.
