After repeated defeats v\ itli the House the separation from the Thames was carried in the Legislative Council, on the motion of Sir F. Whitaker. It then came back for confirmation by the House, when the Premier moved that it be not agreed to. Thereupon Mr Whyte moved that it be agreed to, and spoke strongly in its favour.
