I THAMES CATTLE MARKET. Banks iND Co.'s Weekly Report. — We have to report a dull market for fat I cattle at Parawai, an Thursday, notwithstanding the supply was under the average, butchers being \f ully stocked. Bidding was slow. Steers of good quality, modorate weights, made from £4 7s 6d to £6 7s 6d ; heifers, £2 5s to £5, being from 17s to 18a per lOOlbs. Sheep were in short supply, and sold well, wethers making IBs tkl, and ewes 9s Gd to 10s. Cambridge, Friday 1886. , Alfred Buckland & Co. reports :— At Cainltiidge, on Saturday lust, the cattle yards were well filled with cattle, but few sold. Dairy cows, from £4 to £5 10s ; fat heifers, £3 los. At tho 11 o'clock sale there was a largo attendance, and prices were : Fowls, Is 2d to Is Gd ; ducks, Is Gd ; geese, 2s each ; bacon, 5d to 6£d per lb ; chaff, 2s Gd per bag ; carrots," £2 per ton ; wire, £10 per ton for No. 8. At the horse sale there were a large number of horses offered, and at first sold pretty fully, but before half the horses were offered prices fell, and bidding came to a standstill, nnd more than half the horses were not put up. Prices were : Hacks from £4 5s to £10. Pair of heavy draught horses £GO. At Ohaupo on Tuesday, there "was a small muster of cattle, and store slock were low in price compared with late values, but realised as much as buyers can afford to pay considering the price of beef. Dairy cows from £4 to £5 10s ; grown steers, from £4 2s Gd to £4 10s ; smaller sorts, wellbred, from £3 to £3 18s ; spayed heifers, passed at £1 18s ; fat cows, from £4 7s 6d to £<> 2s 6d. 51 head sold. At Wai toa on Thursday, there was a small muster of cattle, and only 20 sold. Dairy cows, at £3 5s and £5 10s ; backward springing heifers. £3 10s to £3 16s ; fat cows, £3 10s to £4 Is. No steers sold. 540 wethers sold at from iOs to 12s, and 400 ewes at 8s each. Pigs 6s each.
