WAITEKAURI.

Waitekauri G.M.Co. — liollis and party tribnters in this mine, are now breaking out quartz from a well-deßned lode which they call No. 2, and which is believed to be identical with the lode known as-" Butler's." It haa now been driven upon upwards of 80ft, and has maintained an average thickness of 4ft carrying more or less gold throughout for the whole of that distance. From here there is a large tonnage of quartz to hand, and this is now being treated at the battery where it is shaping for a handsome re turn. Eclipse. —-This is a small piece of ground which was taken up some time since by Mr H. Skene, who has already had one good crushing, and is now breaking out stone from a small leader which he expects will yield a return equal to one dwt per Ib. Welcome. — Birney and party, owners of this claim, are breaking out stone from a small lode which shows gold occasionally, and from which a payable return should be obtained when subjected to battery treatment. Maungakara Battery. —This plant is kept fully employed by the proprietors, ltalph and party, who are breaking out crushing dirt from the Young New Zealand and Diamond mines, and the return from the nexc clean up should be a good one.
