OHINEMURI (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Paeroa, Friday.
A football match between the United (Thames) and Ohmomuri Clubs has been arranged to take place here to-mor-row, should the weather prove to be at all propitious. The local club was only recently formed at Karangahake, and it is said that they will be represented tomorrow by several noted footballers, so that the Thames nun will need to look to their laurels. At Kornata a fair proportion of the land purchased at the late Government land sale is being 1 brought into a state of cultivation. Upon Mr H. H. Adams' sections a considerable amount of fencing, as well as clearing, has been accomplished ; and there are now fully five acres ready for planting out with fruit trees. Mr McMechan, who , is also a new comer in the district, is doing good work upon hi£ section which comprises '. [about 100 acres. This gentleman's ''land is pretty thickly studded with, "briar scub," which, on accotmt of the deep root it takes in the soil as well as its thorny nature, is' mos L » difficult to 'eradicate ; but the owner' bopes to Have a good sized area fit for cropping before the advent of the ensuing spring. Travellers arriving here from all parts 'complain loudly of the dilapidated condition of the roads throughout the county.
