LATEST FROM AUCKLAND. Auckland, Last Ni°ht.^ Michael Lunny appeared at the Police Court to-day charged with shooting his wiFe. Case remanded. Gertrude Duke, daughter of Mr Duke, Registrar of Votes, barmaid at the Occidental Hotel, was found in a dangerous condition, suffering from symptoms of poisoning. Drs Brotvn and Beere, who were called in, pronounced it a case of chloroform poisoning. Emetics were administered with satisfactory results, and the patient will probably recover. The Petrel case defence was opened at the Police Court today. Markets. — Butter, wholesale, Is ; eggs, same figure. LATEST FROM WELLINGTON. ' Wellington, last night. Colonel Frassei* is asking Government if it will assist Thames Drainage Board. When Charitable Aid Bill comes up again, Whyte will endeavour to secure separation of Piako County. The whole question oC district railways purchased, has beon brought up again on a question by Sir George Grey and a sultry debate is proceeding. Sir J. Vogel has commenced libel suits against Wellington Times and Argus for comments re report of District .Railways committee.
