Woodstock. — At last I can say with some amount t)F certainty that there is every chance of smelting operations for this mine being started in a short time. There is material enough on hand to keep the hirnace going for three weeks or a month, and Mr Jones of tho New Zealand Smelting Company, Thames, has been engaged to supervise the work, Kenihvorth —Instructions were rg* ccived yester lay by the manager of this mine from tho directors to break out and get rea'iy LO tons of quarto for transmission to England by the s.s« Aorangi,

Ivan ioc — Everything in and about this ojtupany's battery lias been subjected to a thorough overhaul, and a preliminary trial of the n«w Pelton wheel is to be made to-day. At the mine the only work in hand at present is thai of driving north frdm the lonlevel on the " Scott' reeF, which is about 2ft in thickness and carries More or less gold throughout. Scott. — The tramway in course of construction for Tregoweth and party, tributers, is now fast approaching completion ; and breaking out quartz for transit to the Ivanhoe battery will be' bext in the order of things. Adeline — A start was made yestdrday to cart quartz from this, mine to the Hauraki hoppers, from whence it will be Eent down the wire tramway to the Ivanlioe battery. There is a large parcel ready for treatment, and the return Bhould be a good one. Leamington.- -This claim is now the property of Mr A Lock wood who bought it from the Official Assignee in the estate of Mr E. K. Davis. Since taking possession Mr Lookwood has done a good deal of prospecting, and this has resulted in the discovery of a reef which the owner believes *is identical with the reef known as the " Maria in the Woodstock mine. This lode is about 3ft in thickness, and a level is now being driven so as to test its value fit a depth of 20ft under tl.e point where it was met with on the surface. Albion. — Webb and party have started to drive upon a small lode in this mint, and they are obtaining some very encouraging prospects. Golden Point. — Prospecting has been resumed in this mine where the work of tunnelling to cut a icef unearthed b} r trenching on the surface, is now in progress. Since starting this level has been driven a distance of 67ft, and the lode should be to hand in another 30ft of driving. New Quartz Reduction Works. — The frame of the building for this plant has been finished, and the work of covering in with galvanised iron was started this morning. During the week good headWay has been made with the construction of the dam and the excavations for the water race are fast approaching completion. A fair proportion of the machinery has been delivered within easy distance of the mill site, and the remainder is now in course of transit from Paeron, where it was landed yesterday morning.
