Cliffen received a sprain, and was absent to-day. London, June 19, The cricket match, Australians v. Gentlemen of England, was concluded today at the Oval. The Australians continued their first innings with Jones and! Bruce, the non-outs of yesterday. The* forrnor only succeedod in adding 5 to hia score when ho was caught, his innings having resulted in a tplendid total of; 151. Bonnor joined Bruce. Both players rapidly augmented the score. The formerat length was caught when he had contributed 46, while Bonnor played a, good innings for 47. Of the players whq followed, Garrett waa the moat successful, carrying out hia bat for 51. Blackham and Evans both batted well, contributing 3$ and 27 respectively. The innings closed for a total of 4SS, or 17 ahead of the Gentlemen. The latter, owing to the absence of Lucas and Holler from injuries received, in the field, played two men short, and onlysucceeded in putting together ISS. Grace, Turner, and Hawke were the highest scorers^ each paly ing a careful innings. Thej second innings of the Gentlemen closed about time for drawing stumps, and tha match was therefore declared drawn in favour of the Australians, who only re» quiiedSi) runs to win in their second in* niugß.
