Relieving East Coast Settlers.
We have learned that the Government have agreed to place the islands of Motu Ihi and Tirithi, in the Ha'umki Gulf, at the disposal of settlers in the East Coast dis tiicts, for temporarily grazing their cattle. I do not know that the offer will be taken advance of to any great extent. The c.a. Olenelg has left for Ohivva with a lot ot pressed hay for feed. Tixo fear of stock dying has greatly diminished, as grass is springing up m,d" will soon supply feed to the cattle.
Mr Harrow's Petition. Mr Edwin Harrow intends to petition Parliament through Sir George Grey for an inquiry into the circumstances attending the despatch of a boat across Lake Tarawera to examine the native settlements which were buried by the recent volcanic eruption.
