Melbourne, June ll.— The Most Rev. James Alpius Gould, Roman Catholic Bishop, Melbourne, died to-day. The whole of the papers relating to the New Hebrides question have been published by the Victorian Government in a Bluebook. A mass meeting was held in Melbourne to-day, to support Mr Gladstone, Sir Bryan O'Loughlin, Bart., being in the chair. The attendance numbered fully 5,000, and included several clergymen. Resolutions were passed thanking Gladstone for his efforts to provide Home Rule for -eland, and sympathising with him in the rejection of his proposals.
