Maoris and Europeans are rushing about in a state of great excitement; Property of all kinds will be completely destroyed. People are fleeing in crowds from the district, but they do N not know whither to turn, as the whole country from Lake' Taupo to Tauranga b covered with a thick smoke, which makes it as dark as midnight.
