THE EUROPEAN DIFFICULTY. What the Powers Demand of Greece. London, May 6.
i The Powers demand from the Greek Government precise assurances that they will at once cause the disarma ment of the national forces. London, May 7. It is announced, the Greek Government have refused any further explanations in reply to the ultimatum of the Powers, and the Envoys of the several countries will leave Athens to-day. The Greek fcroopa are said to be concentrating on the northern frontier. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone stated, in reply to a question, that if the reply of Greece to the last note presented by the Powers was of an inadequate nature, immediate steps would be taken by them to secure the object they had in view. Athens, May 7, All the foreign Ministers have left with th. exception of the representatives of Russia and France. The former is now awaiting orders from his Government. That portion of the combined squadron which was stationed at Phalerum, has gone to join the main body at Suda Bay, Crete. Constantinople, May 7.— M. Condourion, the Greek Minister to the Sublime Porte, has been recalled.
