THE BANQUET.
On Monday evening a banquet, was given by his friends and admirers to Mr Grace, at the Criterion Hotel, Pueroa. The catering was entrusted to the proprietors, Messrs Cassrella and Uonnott, who are deserving 1 of groat praise for the really excellent manner in which the arrangements were carried out. Botli with respect to tho variety and excellence of the #ood things provided, the laying out of the tables, decorations, and serving, nothing better could be desired. The following 1 were present on the occasion :— Mr F. Cock, chairman, supported en his right by the truest of the evening Mr L. M. Grace, M.H.R. ; nnd on the left by Mr VV. G. Nicholls. Messrs E. M. "Corbett, J, M. Robaon, and F. Lipsey (vice-chairmen) ; A. J. Thorpe, John Phillips, jun., Hy. Alley, t<\ Strange, H. Butler, J. H. Moore, j. W. Thorp^, B. Simms, James Bair.^tt, D. Snodgrass, G. N. McOruer, J. H. Walsh, C. Rhodes, J. Ilott, P. Sheehy, J. Nicks, E. Edwnrds, C. F. Mitchell, T. Logan, 11. C. Wick, W. Snllivnn, N. Dickey, J. McCombio, T. E. avul J. \V. Shaw, T. Jackson, W. Matsh, E. Bains, H. Biady, and T. M. Humphreys. Full justice having been dono to the good tilings provided, the toasts of the evening were proposed, and responded to, interspersed with speeches and songs; the proceedings lasted till 1.30. a.m. The following is a list of the toasts:— " The Queen," proposed by Mr Cock. " The Governor," proposed by Mr Corbott. " Our Guest." Mr L. M. Grace, proposed by Mr Cock; Mr Giace suitably responding. " The Local Body," proposed by Mr Edwa-ds ; responded to by Mr Cock chairman of the Comity Council. '• Mining interests,'" proposed by Mr Strange, Mr Moore responded, " Agricultural Interests," ])roposcd by Mr Robaon, Mr Alley responded. uTe Arolm," proposed by Mi' Strange, Mr Ilott responded. " Pioneers," proposed by Mr Edward*, Mr J. Thorpe responled. " K.itikati Settlers," proposed by ]\Lr Cock Mr Simms responded. " Houso of Representatives," |>roposed by Mr Cock, Mr Grace, M.H.R. respondeil. "The Lidies," proposed by Mr Sullivan, Mr T. Shnw responded. u Rising Generation," proposed by Mr Corbott. " Thames County Council," proposed by Mr T.Shaw, Mr Mitchell responded. '•' The Press," proposed by Mr Robson, Messrs Mitchell, Ilott, McCombie and Edwards responded. " Kon. Minister of Mines," coupled with the names of Piofessor Black and Mr Montgomery, Mr Grace responded. " The Miners," proposed by Mr T. M. Humphreys, Messrs Moore and Corbett responded. " Warden Kenrick," proposed by Mr F. Lipsey, Mr Strange responded. fi The Hosts," proposed by Mr J. Phillip?, jun., Mr Cassrels responded. On Tuesday Mr Grace left for Tauranga via Waitekuuri, being warmly warmly at every place visited during his tour through the Ohineinuri district.
