The Premier Denies Several Current Reports.
Wellington, Mar 20. Regarding the rumours to the effect that there is a split in the Cabinet on the borrowing proposals, and that Mr Stout will resign when Parliament meets, I have had an interview with the Premier on the subject. Ho assures me there is no truth whatever in the reports, as the borrowing policy of the Government has not yet been considered in Cabinet, and will not be dealt -with for a week or two yet. Another rumour says that Sir Julins Vogel had an interview with His Excellency the Governor one day this week, to endeavour and obtain His Excellency's views on the question of dissolution ; that Sir Julius Vogel urged thatthepreaentHouse was exhausted, but that His Excellency replied he;was|notatal)|surethatthe House was exhausted. It was also stated that His Excellency expressed himself very strongly regarding a statement frequently published to the effect that the Premier has a written promise of dissolution from His Excellency in the event of the defeat of the Government. In the ordinary course, these statements are also denied by the Premier, who asserts thk.t no such interviews have taken place.
Ministerial Departures. Mr Ballance left this morning to attend the native meeting at Wanganui, and Mr Buckley left last night for Auckland. Mr Tole is expected back on Monday.
