On Wednesday evening last a farewell tea in honour of the Rev. T. J. and Mrs Wills, was given by his numerous friends at Paeroft, in the Public Hall. A large company assembled} and the tea, etc., reflected great credit to the ladies who pro vided same. A most pleasant evening was spent, and all joined in wishing Mr and Mrs Wills every happiness* Sergtx Emerson, on Tuesday, arrested a man named R. P. Percy alias Cook, who was working for the railway contractor, Mr Livingstone, for issuing a valueless cheque, Mr R. S. Brown, of Morrinsville, preferred the chance. The prisoner was brought up on Wednesday before Mr W« F» Hunt, J.P., and remanded till Monday next. Other charges of a like nature against prisoner are pending. All hoises entered for Paeroa Kices on Wednesday next hive nccepted, and a very successful meeting is anticipated. Bishop Luck will be at Paeroa on next Sunday. An old Thames resident named Mr John Mungun, some time manager of the Bright Smile mine, Thames, expired here suddenly on Tnur^day morning. He had been in a very b<id state of health for a long time, suffering from the effects of paralysis, and on Uis arrival, .March Ist, was in a helpless condition. His death is supposed to have reunited from another stroke of paralysi*. His son was staying with him, and accompanied the body to the Thames (by one of Messrs Bradley and Co.'s coaches) same nigh One of the daughters of deceased is married to Mr J. H.
