TE AROHA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of the above (adjourned from the previous Wednesday) was held on the evening of the 10th inst. in the school room. Piesent : Messrs J. P. Vnuse (chairman), J. A. Marsdon, sent in the following report respect ng irregular attendance on the part of the folloning scholars t Sarah, Mary, and Wilhelnrina Morrison, and Mary Quinlna were each absent from school during the term named (and tviiiclj permitted of an attendance on foity days) forty times ; whilst for the same period May Everitt, Chas. Everitt, Osborue Smith, and Mary Clarke, were absent 30, 36, 23, and 33 times respectively. Jtesolved, that the Secretary bo re<jui sted to serve notices on the parents of tbesfi children under the compulsory c\faseB of the Education Act. 'Resolve.!, That a 12-incfi (in diameter) terrestial globe, corrected to 1884, be at once obtained for the use of the children.

Marshall, resident Church of E: i gl and clergyman :—: — "Te Aroha, March 9tli, IHBG.— "Dear Sir, — I am anxious to give the children Attending the public school whose parents do not obj rt, an hour* religions instruction each week, a«ul I beg to ask the Committee through yon to «ive me, or, iv my absence, some one authorised by me, permission to do so at such time as will not interfere with the ordinary school work. — I am, dear sir, faithfully yours, James Marshall. The Secretary, Te Aroha School Committee. After considerable discussion (during which reference was made to a similar request having been made and granted to the Rev. G. T. Marshall) Wesleyaii Clergyman, some two and a half years ago, and regularly availed of by him up to the time of his leaving this circuit, both in connection with the Waiorongomai and Te Aroha schools, 'which were then under one committee), it was resolved that the application be granted to be availed of outside ordinary sch x>l hours. A fixed day in each week to be appointed fer the giving t>f such instruction.
