NOT SO FISHY AFTER ALL. THE ISLAND THEORY CONFIRMED.
A native constable named Piui Haiti ; (Billy Wright) has just arrived from the ; vicinity of Cape Reinga. On interviewing him he states that the Maoris there have been much concerned over an object lately seen off the Cape. They cannot make out what it is. He also states that the Maoris have lost two or three whales with harpoons, one being a large right whale. Tbe wind is now fresh from E.N.E. 2.30 p.m. In another interview with the Maori policeman, through the interpreter for the Maoris, he says Mr Yates, farmer, North Cape, states distinctly that he saw a piece of land rise out of the sea off Cape Maria, confirming Captain Savory's statement.
