THE CUSTOMS REVENUE. (BY TELEGRAPH - PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Jan 3.

The amounts of the Customs revenue collected at the four principal centreß in January were :— Auckland, £30,179 ; Wellington, £19,168 ; Lyttelton and Christchurch, £16,752 ; Dunedin, £32,787. These amounts compared with those collected in December last show an increase at Dunedin and Auckland, while at Lyttelton, Christchurch, and Wellington there ia a elight decrease. Compared with the corresponding month of 1885 there is a decrease at Lyttelton, at Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington, Auckland showing a fair increase. The total amount collected for the ten months of the financial year is £1,183,874, which is £7,792 below the Treasurer's estimate for that period. The beer duty collected in the colony for the month just expired is £4,974, as against £6,372 for the preceding month, and £4,920 for January, 18S5. The principal amounts collected were : — Auckland, £1,059 ; Wellington, £455 ; Lyttelton and Christchurch, £958 ; Dunedin, £1,095. For the ten months of the financial year, the total is £45,304, which is £528 below the Treasurer's estimate for that period. Shilings and pence are omitted in each instance,
