OWHAROA.

At a fairly attended meeting of miners held in the school room here a few nights since, it was resolved to makeapplications to Government for the £400 subsidy promised by the Minister for Mines in aid of the work of extending the Smile of Fortune Companys'' low level tunnel about 500 feet north of the present workings. If carriud out, this tunnel would not only form a basis of operations for the whole of the claims located upon either side <^f its line, but it would also open up an extensive area of the ground which has- been proved ta be highly auriferous.
