[New Find. — Mi Baj I don surveyor, to this company, arrived on Wednesday List, ami laid off tae new lo\t level ami the tenders for the woik have been forwarded to Auckland for the approval of the directors. Owing to the continued drought still preventing the battery from working, twenty hands, we regret to say, had to be temporarily discharged last Saturday night ; of the eight still working four are employed rising in the slopes on the run of gold just met with in the low level to connect with the Arizona, in order to provide better ventilation and accessibility for working ; the other four men are engaged in the Diamond Gully section of the Co's pro perty.
Waiouongomai. — Driving towards the Wellington boundary in the Provincial section of this company's grounc' is still in progress. To-day a start will be made to break out quartz in the d.ive. S toping is aiso going on. Generally mining is almost at a standstill <at Waiorongomai just now, owing to fie battory boing idle, and there is nothing of importance to report from any of the mines.
