The usual monthly meeting of the above was heM *in the Public Hall, Paercm, on Saturday last, commencing at 3.30 p.tu j all members p res flit. Minutes of the previous meeting read and confirm pd. Correspondence was next read, and included the iollowing communication forwarded to the Thames Count/ Council re " Adjustment of Assets and Liabilities'" JJ — ■ In accordance with instructions from the OLiincmuri County Council, I have the honour to submit to your Council the following- contentions bearing reference to the adjustment of the assets end liabilites between the Tnames and Ohinemuri Counties. The Ohinetnuri Co-inty Council contend that ; — (a). The accounts of receipt and expenditure on account of the late Ohinemuri Riding be taken from the coining 1 into opeiation of the Counties Act, 1876. (b) That these accounts will show an approximate expenditure of £26,443 17s 9d ; ( c ). and that the receipts, exclusive of the sum icceived under the Roads and Bridges Cont-ti uction Ait, amount te £19,851 ids, leaving a debit balance of £6592 2s ( Jd. (<7.) That against this balance must be credited the amount received by the lluimet> County i'or the Ohinemnri Riding under the Koads and Bridges Construction Act, which is £BdB3 o*. And (c). That the new Coumy i-v thvrjfore entitled to receive a sum approximate to the amount of £2291 2s 3d, in consideration of the Utiinemuri County taking the respunbibility of the payment of the debentures payable on the Ist May yearly, under tht> Koads and Bridges Construction Act. (/) That furthermore contentions aremado by the Ohinemuri County that inasmuch as no poition of the overdraft on the Bank of New Zealand, on account of the Thames County, h.is been incnired on t :e benalt of the lute vjlunemuri Riding, the new County ought not to bear any share of tlut liability. (q). That the newCounty are entitled to leceivo from the Thames County payment of the pioceeds of the b.'.le befoio hesitation of any of landed or other propei ty of the Thames County, within tut; boundary of the late Ohmemuri Riding. (h). That the newCounty ureentit.ed to purchase from the Thames County all other piopeity situate within tl c new County at a fair valuation. (»). That the new County resei ves its right to claim an interest in the water race, sucli interest to be assessed at a fair valuation. Tiie Ohinemuri County Council also request the Thames County Council to furnish thtnn with a categorical reply to these contentions, and should they not consider that these propositions are fair and equitable that they, the lhames County Council, should render a similar statement to the Ohinemnri County Council of the basis on which they propose to Nettle the adjustment. Chairman stated the matter had been suumiUeu to? and approved by a majority of the Finance Committee, and therctore there was no necessity to krse a me nth by waiting for the council mevtmg. The action of the chairman was approved by the council. Cr Nicliolls drew attention to a state ment wnich appeared in the Thames Advertiser report of the last Thames Comity Council iweedng, in which it was mentioned that the Ohinemnri delegates had expressed their council's readiness to take over its fair share of liability. Cr Nicholls and the other delegates said that statement was fal?e r they had said nothing 1 ol the kind. Bangiora Road. — On the motion of Cr Nicholls, it was resolved to proceed with tbe work of improving this road to the extent of £50 as soon as the county were in funds. Road to Karangahake. — Messrs Jackson and Kenny submitted a plan of the above road, and stated they had proposed making the road one chain vridu, formation 161 ft, length of road 67 chains. Considerable discussion, ensued re this work. Cr Humphreys said the construction of this road would save 10s per ton on carting to Karangahake, and moved that tenders be called for at once for the construction of the road from Butler's road to Karons a. lake ; tenders to be iv by next council meeting. Seconded by Cr Moore, and carried. Auckland Agricultural Company. — The Thames County Council forwarded :i communication received by them in August last from the above company, accompanied by a plan, etc., showing
