The second day's racing of the Dunedin -Jockey Club Spring Meeting took placo today. Pkksipent's Handicap of 200 ao\ r 3, with a swoeDtitake3 of each; tho second horae to receive iOsova.; the third 20dovs. from the otakes, One mile and a quar er. Captain Webster, Sst alb .. 1 Talebearer, Bst 61b '2 Fusilade, Bst 3 Also ran :—Lady Emma, Ssfc 71b ; and Tasmania, 6st 121b. Everton Lad and Rubezbal were scratched. Captain Webster virtually led all the way, but it was a pretty race, not three lengths aeparating tho first horse from the last throughout the whole distance. Captain Webster won by half a length from Talebearer. Time, 2min 16?ec3. Totalisator dividends : £3 4s outside ; £2 16s inside. Novkl Race. A handicap of 7030V5. Une mile and a distance. Molly 1
Thia race needs no description. Molly got a terrific start, which she made the most of, winning by fully a dozen lengths. Time, limin 3sec II \xdicaj j Hukdms liAti; of 70 boys. Serious Accident to a Jockey. At the third hurdle Foreman fell, throwing his rider, Pelham Jones, who is eriously, if not fatally, hurt. Maidkn Plate ok 60 sows.— Entrance, 2sovs. One mile and a-quarter. Weight for age. For horses that have not won an advertised prize exceeding £25.
Time, 2mins. lSfsoca. In the Maiden Plate Tasmania was a decided favourite, at 3 to 2 ; against others, 3to 1. Vanity Fair had the best of the start. At three quarters of a mile the favourite had a slight lead of Vanity, the whole lot being in a cluster. On reaching the home turn a rattling finish resulted in Tit Bit winning by a length. Dividend, £G 4s 6(1, and £5 7s 6d. Time, 2tnin. 18isec. St. Anduevv's Handicap, of loOsovs. ; second horse to receive losovs. and tho third horse lOsovs. from the stakes. One mile and a quarter.
