LORD SALISBURY ON POLITICAL QUESTIONS.
London, November 9. The annual Lord Mayor's dinner was held in the Guildhall last night. The Premier, Lord Salisbury, replying to the toast of '•Her Majesty's Ministers," stated thiat Russia was . heartily co operating with Great Britain in marking the RussoAfghan, frontier, Keferring to the Burmese difficulty, Lord Salisbury said aa little change,, would be made in the administration of Burmah as was consistent with the interests of the British. Alluding o the Conference now sitting at Constantinople, he expressed v a hope that the strength of parties would be maintained unimpaired, and that such a settlement would be arrived atias would satisfy the people -concerned. ,«Theu policy of IJer Majesty's .Government Ireland was' to uphold the Union,\to protect the loyalists, and generally to strive to giy.e contentment and happiness to?that country, He' pre dieted that theconierence^Qonßtantinople would not, result'inT any .dur^bjeT "settlement being arrived at/6n the ßoiimelian question.'
