SHAM FIGHT IN AUCKLAND.

The Sham fight at Auckland on Norember 9 proved a very brilliant affair, and not only reflected credit on the officer commanding the district, but also showed that our citizen soldiers were ready and willing to undergo great inconvenience. The number of men under arms must have been Close on 1500 ; and the many-coloured uniforms of the different infantry corps, added to the dashing appearance of the cavalry and mounted artillery, made up a scene that will long be remembered by those who witnessed the turn- out. The scene of operations for the defending force extended from St. Heliers Bay to the Tamaki Bridge (nearly 3 miles).
