Winter shall fan its ioy breath, And all the feeble senses numbDesire shall fail, the voice of song, The note of harp shall each be dumb. Then, when the sun of Time has set We shall lie silent, check by jowl With mother earth, the worms our nutter, The shroud our robe, the sod our cowl* The 'ternal mountains still shall stand, The salt sea waves toss Up their spray. The forest trees ruise high their heads, The birds sing all thelivelong day. Above our grave the flowers shall rise, The rev 'rend elm shall spread its arms, The screech owl, with its dismal Bhriek, Shall fill the night with rude alarms. The homes we tilled shall ring with mirth, As other households gather there ; But, solemn thought— "-oh 1 heart disclose, Where shall our 'biding place be? Where ?
