Sir,— We, the undersigned, residents of the goldfield district of Te Aroha have heart! with extreme regret of rthe proposal to remove the present Warden, Harry Kenrick, Esq. We are vf opinion that any change made at the present time would, militate greatly against the advancement of the district, and the Hauraki Goldfields generally. On those fields a new area in mining is now being inaugurated, and of the various requirements 'of the different localities Mr Kenrick has acquired from long experience that intimate xnowledge which it is absolutely necessary a Warden having the charge of these districts should be possessed of. 'Mr Kenrick has also won for- himself by his upright and impartial administration -ithe 'respect and goodwill of every member "of 'this community, and his rempval' just tio\f would be' almost universally regrette-l as a calamity to this district ; we, therefore} request that you will be pleased to give this petition your most favourable consideration, and secure to. us a .continuance of his services, and we shall ever ,pray, etc.
