There were two applicants^ viz. : Messrs Munfo and Fenton, both of whose names were culled in Court nnd both were present «t the tjtue of sale. Had there been only one applicant the claim should have been awarded him at an upset price sufficient to cover the expenses, which in the case referred to amounted to one guinea. We may add in reference to this query that a large number of claims have beon surrendered by the Battery Co. from time to time. In reply to query No. 4 : Surely j r ou are fully aware that Mr Ceo. Wilson, Te Arnlia, is the Mining Inspector for this district.
