Prince Imperial won by two lengths from Despjr, who just beat The Broker by a head for second honours. Time, 2min. 35£ sec., v/hich is the fastest on record for the race. Prince Imperial, the winner, has b:cn highly thought of in connection with the event since the weights first appealed, and at last advices was well up in the quotetions. He was purchased by bis preeert owner from the Hon. J. Eales in December last for 600 guineas, and is a very well-bred animal, being got by Kelpie from Queen's Bead (who ran second to Briaeis in the V.R.C. Derby of 1876), by Yattendon from Gazelle, by Magnus from Atalanta, by the imported Reprieve from Langar Queen, daughter of Langar.
