Native Lands Disposition Bill.
With reference to the Native Lands Disposition Bill, the Native Affairs Committee make the following recommendation : — "That with the evidence taken there be printed— (l) The bill as modified by the amendments proposed by the Government ; (2) the bill as modified by the amendments proposed by Wahanui ; (3) the bill as modified by the amendments proposed by Wi I Pere. Ako, that the bill b© not proceeded ! with this S9ssion." The report of the same Committee with reference to the Native Land Court Consolidation BUI is that it be not proceeded with, aod that a new bill be introduced next session. Sir F. Whitaker is to givo evidence before the Petitions Committee on Sir Julius Vogel's petition. Mr Do-wnie Stewart ask? to-morrow whether the Government will place on the Supplementary Estimates £500 as a bonus for the manufacture of 300 tons of cement) or what encouragement they will give for the manufacture of cement. Mr Tole, in answer to a question without notice last night, said the Government intended to take up and proceed with Sir George Grey's Enforcement of Judgments Bill. The Supreme Court Reporting Bill, circulatei last night, enables the Governer to appoint reporters to each Supreme Court district to report all such proceedings at each sitting as may be required of them by the Judge in the case, or by the partieß to any suit or proceeding in a civil case. Reporters are required to swear an oath of fidelity. Mr Man tell is to move in the Council the abolishing of exemption in the Property Assessment Bill, a step which it appears Government have been afraid to take, The "Post" suggests the reduction of exemption to £100. Mr Garrick to-night accused the editors of the Wellington papers of being the lineal descendants of Annanias and Sapphira.
