(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, — I was much surprised to see by your issue of Saturday lart that you state Tfith respect to the granting of a monopoly of ten years of the overflow of the Thermal Springs to Mr Robson, at the last meeting of the Domain Board ; that I hail withdrawn my application for 6* me made at previous meeting, and Iffhich application the Boatfd decided to defer dealing with at that meeting desiring that the matter should be discussed at a full irieetina: of rriembers before doing so. 1 ( hallenge the statement vpfened to as being totally incorrect, having liefer directly or indirectly withdrawn my application, and I was in total ignorance that any other party wre intending to apply for the right until I saw it announced in your columns, in fact. I fully Understood the Board had expressed themselves as favourably inclined to grant my application for a short term. Bay two or three years. — Yours respectfolly, Kdw. Peel. Te Arolta, Aug. (TO fHE ErilT"R.) Was it Mr Roosoii's intention, in the event of obtaining the right applied for, to have erected tue necessary machinery for bottling and »rating the water, or to transfer his right to others ? 3. Is it trift thnt. V!> Pool n *ver cmnmnircifH with the Board to the effect that he wished to withdraw his application ? 4. Should the Board still persist in carryIng out the arrangement referred to, in the face of the generally expressed wishes of the people, is there no way for the residents, by united action, to hare such arrangement set aside. 5. Have the Board used any efforts to make known at a distance, either through agents, advertisements, or Otherwise', that the exclusive right to the overflow would be granted for a term of years, and that they were, open to receite offers 7 A reply to the above, in your next issue will oblige.~l am, &c.s A Looker-on. In reply to No. 3, you 1 will find, a letter inserted by Mr Peel on the subject in this issue. With respect to No. '± query, it is not premature, Seeing that the next meeting of the Board will beheld ori September sth, when doubtless the subject will be fnlly discussed, and possibly the action 1 of those present at the late Meeting may riot be confirmed in the face of the generally expressed wishes of the great majority of residents in the district* By attend ing the ffublic' meeting t« be" held on next Wednesday evefning, yon will no doubt hear the sflbjecfc dismissed* from different standpoints.— £!tf.
