DEATH OF J .T.MACKELVIE, ESQ. New Plymouth, July 23.

A private letter received from London by s.B. Rimutaka, dated June 3rd, says :— "Mr Mackelvie died very suddenly yesterday. An hour or two before he was talking with some friends, apparently in a fair state of health. Mr Mackelvie left £40,000 to the Auckland Museum, and has given numerous pictures and works of art to same intitution. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm^m.
