THE MINES.
New Find. — The work in this mine at present consists in pushing on with the drive on No. 1 reef from the low level north, to connect with the winze. The reef is now a littlo larger, showing gold. A leading stope is being carried after the drive from which some very good dirt is being obtained. No. 1 reel in stopes above Arizona level is looking] much as when last reported upon, alsoj the surface from No. 1 reef from which* quartz is beiug broken out, continues to look well On Monday next a start will be made on tiie under hand block from the winze in the Diamond Gully section. Work on this ohiim would have been begun earlier but for ,the wet weather. The rock- borers are to hand, but have not vet been tried.
Premier. — This claim started to crush on Tuesday last with 5 head of stampers. From 30 to 40 trucks will he put through »t this crashing, which has been obtained from No. 2 reef, intermediate level.
