MASONIC ENTERTAINMENT.
The social evening party, given by the Freemasons, and to which numbers of their fronds were invited, whs held in tho School-room, To Aroha, last evening. Notwithstanding the inclemency of tho weather, a large number attended and \ spent a very enjoyable evening. Thy ! amusements consisted of dancing, singing, etc. Several excellent songs were rendered, notably by Mr and Mrs Burgess, Mr 0 ith waito, nnd Mr Pavitt, and recitationn by MdrniN DArcy MuDoitgull, G. Wilson, and others. I*hc arrangement* Were of a very complete character, and reflected much credit on the committee appointed. Clh^h, draught, and curd tables were provided, and refreshments served round at intervals. Tho brotherhood were present in strong force, droHsed in the regalia of the Oftler". The guests probably numbered over 1 00. Dancing was kept up with vigour throughout, and the compmy we. c thoroughly enjoying themselves when we went to press this morning at 4 «.m. In .spite of th* unpropitious woathor, the affair was a decided bUeoess. We append ii few particulars respecting some of the ladies' dresses :—: — Mrs VuusQ : Very rich costume of broohe and pale pinls cashmere. Mrs Burgess : Fawn surah, trimmings of garnet, fnYze and Spanish laoe. Miss Warren • Palo blue Nun's veiling nnd white lace. Mrs Lloyd ; Claret velvet, profusely trimmed with iioniton lace. Miss (Jlarke : Cream sateen, cardinal trimmings. Mrs J. McLeod Murray : Dark crimson velvet, pi^arl wl)ite Spanish lace. Miis Davios : Myrtle green satin, pale pink Spanish lace, looped up with cluster's of shamrocks. Miss Ilotchin : Brown broohe, trimmings pale blue chenile. Mrs and Miss Laybourn : Blnck cj.slimcie, trimmings of jet and luce Mrs Warren : Pimn velvet, trimmings of Limeiick lace. Mi h Lawless: Pale bluo satin, with snowdrops and fro^t.'d leaves. Miss Lawless : llandsomy old gold satin, caidinal puppies, and wheat'iaiu Miss Pavitt : Very .stylish fl nveied lawn polonaise, v ifc't pink satin utulerskirt. Mi->s> liainillon (Thames): Oiwtnmo of black and Heliotrope, with unmounted blu-.li roses Mrs Mar u den : Navy blue silk, trimmed with Oiientul lace. Ally G'.'o, Wilson ; Iticli costume of dark grcun and gold jewellery. Mrw Pavitt : Handsome black silk, with pale blue trimmings.
