WAIORONGOMAI BAN OF HOPE.
A meettng of the above was held in the Public Hall, Waiorongomai, on Tuesday evening last. The attendance Was large, and the meeting a most successful one. Mr Ilott occupied the chair. The following programme was gone through in a very creditable m.inner :— hecitation, " Naughty Boy," Master Adams ; recitation, " He never smiled again," Miss E. Green ; recitation, "The sailor's child," Miss M. Hill; trio, " Tliere's a light in the window," Messrs S. L. Hirst, W. H. Hawkins, and .Hiss Harling ; recitation, " A dip in the sea," Mhs Ryan ; reading, ".Our platform," Mr M. Lovell ; song, " My sweet happy home." Miss Foreman ; recitation, " GineviM, * Mrs Adams ; dialogue, "The Sabbath day>" Misses Green and Forsman ; recitation, " Annalul," Master J. Robertson ; recitation Miss Devey ; trio, "The happy home," Messrs S. L. Hirst, W. H. Hawkins, iin.l Miss Harling ; recitation, M'ttter H. Kers iaw ; recitation, " The little liinl," Master Adams ; song, " Why rouse the British Lion," Mr W. H. H.iwkins ; recitation, Miss Bloomfield ; recitation, " My first address," Miss L. Green ; reading, " The mother-in-law," r Ilott ; reading, "An appeal for prohibition," Mr M. Lovell ; song, ** F.ir away," Miss Soppet ; trio and chorus, " Don't go neaf the liar- room," Messrs S- L. Hirst, W. H Hawkins, and Miss H.irling ; recitation, " Try, try, again," Muster Jennings ; recitation, " The little boy that died," Miss E. Hirst \ " Band of Hope competition,'* Mr W. H. Hawkins. The rendering of ail three trios was admirable, and at the conclusion of each those taking part, were warmly ap plauded. Mr Buttle* on behalf of the VVaiorongomai Band of Hope, presented Master Geo. Robertson (who is about to leave for Auckland), with a book as a token of appreciation of the valuable assistance he had so often rendered at their meetings. Mr Hawkins announced that about the end of this month a competition would take place amongst members for prizes, to be awarded to those adjudged the best in singing, recitations, readings, etc.
