The New Style.
Tub ne\r style of Christmas story (says G. R. Simß, writing in the " Referee") is a great improvement on the old. There is a hearty ring of hatred and murder and spite and all uncharitableness about the new Christmas stories which makes them truer to nature. If you turn to tho newspapers just before Christmas you will find murder, robbery, and the menus plaisirs of wicked natures in full swing. Wives kill their husbands, sweethearts flay their girls, there is pistol-popping and vitriol throwing, and , the Thames and the Regent's Canal are much used for the reception of children and adults. If the Christmas story is to be a reflex of the manners of the age, it ought to be stuffed as full of crimes as a Christmas pudding is of plums.
