Torpedo Boat for AucklandVisit of Military and Naval Officers. Wellington April 15.
The Hinemoa left for the Manukau last night.taking up Major Cautley, R.E., Lieut. Douglas,R.N., and Mr Smythe torpedo instructor, who visit Auckland in connection with the defence of that port. The Hinemoa will also, if possible, take up the torpedo boat intended for the defence of Auckland harbour, the intention being to send it across by rail from Onehunga to the waters of the Waitemata, in preference to taking it up by the long East Coast sea route. Our correspondent adds :—": — " As it has been ascertained that a similar message has been sent to tho sister colonies, there is reason for believing that there is Impeiial authority for the opinions of the AgentsGeneral of the several colonies."
