THE EASTER TREE.

The Easter Tree and Gift Auction which came off in the, Aroha Public Hall on Fiiday and Saturday nights last, was a decided The affair was got up for the purpose of raising funds to clear off a debt on the church property of 'the Wesleyan body/ and resulted in some £38 to £40 neing thus i obtained, which, considering the .times, cannot be regarded as other. than satisfactoiy. The attendance on the first night was very large, and the hall presented quite a lively appearance. Amongst those present were numbers of the visitors now staying amongst us for the benefit of the baths. The Easter Tree was the great attraction, and, took up nearly the whole of the 'platform, much amusement being caused by the m-appropriateness of the articles winch '.fell to', the,' n f6tT of ! , ticketholders. The "Bazaar, Ne^j'', issued for the occasion by our ;enfergetic postmaster, met with ready sale, and' was neaily got up. Telephone and telegraph, instruments were* also at 'work.'
