THE GOVERNMENT AND THE ROTORUA RAILWAY.
The Auckland Herald of Febuary 26 has the following : — We understand that during his stay here Sir Julius Vo^el has , had severil interviews with Dr Campbell and other directors of ihe Rotoruii Hail way Company, and that an agreement has been come to for the completion, subject to the approval of the Cabinet. The Government are to , take over the two sections of the line, reaching to a point beyond Oxford, and have arranged with the company to construct the remainder to Ohineinuuu, at fiotortia. We may therefore take ,it .that the line will be pushed forward without delay, and that the portion on which the formation is completed >yiil be made ready for traffic at once* ' The opening of the first^ two sections will give railway communication through the aplended country of th*^ Upper Thames, Up to' the .Pa^etksre block, and when the line is , finished' the. s tva, ffio .to, Hojborua, will be very greatl -We may also fairly expect?ihat the li'ne^ will not stop sat /Ro^oruo^but.will^biniji^ 1 be' extended So, v^s ta/)pen i ',up'Wre%[iot^ i , country in- ( of- the Bay 1 ofr pleutf.'
