ELECTION OF LICENSING COMMISSION ERS, TE AROHA DISTRICT.
The election of five members to the office of 'Licensing Commissioners took place in the Te Aroha Public Hull on Monday lasfc, and passed off very quietly. One or two parties might iiave been seen moving around, and looking up voters for their respective friends, hut on the whole the proceedings were not productive of much stir during the day. As the time approached, however, for making known the result of the poll, a con- 1 siderable number of persons collected ! in the vicinity of the Public Hall. Mr Pavitt presided as Returning Officer. The following is the result of the election :—: — J.B. Smith 58 Votes D. Murphy 55 ' G. Lip^cy 39 „ J. Gibbons 39 „ J. Munro 31 „ D. J FvnxQT 26 „ M. Hotchin 26 „ • A large number of votes were not exercised at all. The first five were declared duty elected, and the. proceedings closed with a voie of thanks to the Returning Officer. Immediately after the election a first meeting of the Commissioners was held, for the purpose of electing a Chairman. Present — Messrs Lipsey, Munro, Gibsons, and Murphy. t . Hr J. B.
