Ho\rever, the tailings have been all secured, and no doubt the Company will reap a benefit on a future occasion. Mr McCosh Clark, niaiiatfing director, paid a visit of inspection to this mine on yesterday, accompanied by the mine manager, who pointed out that there was now ready for breaking out a large block of payable stone, and no doubt operations will be quickly resumed.
New Find. — Work is going on as usual in this mine, and the staff now being broken out is of average quality. The number of stamps employed at the battery has been increased to 20. Mr Bay li lon, the Co.'s surveyor, this week laid off the proposed lower level, referred to in last week's issue.
Diamond Gully. — This company are n>w crushing a parcel of stuff, employin* 5 head of stampers. No cleaning up has yet taken place, but judging from general appearance the yield will probably be about the same as last crushing, which yielded over an ounce per truck. Tenders were called for sinking a winze, but none were accepted, the directors thinking them too high, aii'l fresh tender*, have been c.illed for the proposed work

A i?oo 1 payable return may be expected, as both the Inverness and.Ye, mont had ,<?ood payable returns from crushings obtained from the same reef.
