Your Committee have the honour to report to the householders of th« above district That since the committee took office in January last mont satisfactory progress has been made by the pupils ftt both Te Aioha and Waiorongomsi schools, every credit being due to the Head Teachers and their Assistants. Your committee are pleased to be in a position to inform you that, at the reqnpßt of • the householders resident at Waioronizomai, ' endorsed by your committee, the Board of Education has taKen the necessary steps to divide the district into two (2) school districts, the boundaries to be defined under the provisions of section 61 of " The Education Act, 1877," notice of which has bfen duly advertized by the Board. Your committee can, by experience, assure you that such division of the district will be a great benefit to both Te Aroha and Waiorongomai, the distance between the two places rendering it most inconvenient at times for I the naembess of the committee to attend meetings, especially during the winter months. I Your Committee are sorry to inform you that, at his own request, Mr Pur die, Head Teacher at Waiorongomai, has been removed to Auckland, and they desire to place on j record their appreciation of his abilities and j attention to his duties. Mr Gillies, who replaces Mr Purdie, is highly recommended by the Board of Education. Your committee would also wish specially to place on record their appreciation of Mr Marsden'B abilities and attention to his duties. Your committee have every reason to hope that, with the incoming year, the district will progress, and with such progression the population increase and the attendance of ohildren at the bchools at the expiration of the year be in excesa of those at present on the rolls. The Te Avoha District is left by your committee free from any liability and with an asset of sorno £7 or .€8 worth of firewood in hand. The Waiorongomai portion of the district has agreed to take their firewood as an equivalent for monies due to Mrs Monroe for soiiool-cleaning, the Te Atoha members of the committee having amongst themselves raised sufficient money to pay all other claims due.
