WRECK OF THE ANNABELL AT KAIPARA. (From the Auckland " Star," Jan. 3.) Helensville, January 3.
The brig Annabcll is ashoro on the Tory Shoal, Kaipara Heads. She was coining in yestorday afternoon with a southeast wim ? , and missed stays and went on the bJioal just at sundown. The Hghthousc-man telephoned for the tugboat to render a&sistance, but bofch chief and second pilots were away with two arrivals, the Linda Weber and Mary AnnAnnison. Hearing of the disaster, the captain of the Minnie Casey took his vossol down at 10 last night ; but although tho man at the masthead could sco nothing of tho vessel, the wind was strong and heavy sea, and Captain Poaree being short cf coal, and fearing getting nipped by the ebb tido, was compelled to give up the search. Fears are entertained here for her safety, being; old ; als,o for the crew, on account of the heavy sea last nightOnly two men are at the pilot station, and the captain of the Minnie Casey advised them to get up steam in the tug and fetch the pilot off the Mary Ann Annison to go out and try to savo the crew. The Minnie Casey *-poko the bai'que at Shelly Beach, and advised tho pilot of the accident. The Annabell was bound from Sydney to Te Kopuru to load timber.
