A DISCREDITABLE SCENE.
There has "been a discreditable scene in the Victorian Aesombly. The "Argus's" report of it is as follows :— "Mr McLellan said that Mr Gaunson ' was monstrously out of order.' This remark bi ought Mr Bent into tho arena. He had an old score to pay oil"; for Mr McLellan .weeks before, snoered at tho occupation of a maiket gardener. \I have always earned my living honestly, and paid my way,' began the hon. member for Brighton. The House was then told that Mr M ri Lcllan once lay on a door mat to got into otlicc, and committed the further .sin of not paying his washing bill. Tho principals in the fray seemed ready to fly at each other across the table, encounters out ot doors woro hinted it, and every moment brought forth fresh epithets. Mr Service entered the Chamber in timo to allay the storm. His earnest appeal to hon. members to behave like gentlemen and good boys induced Mr Bent and Mr McLellan to withdraw all ollcnsivo expressions, anil the sitting came to a peaceful ending.''
