German Annexation in the Pacific Londox, December "17.— Dr. Flensch, naturalist, has been appointed German Consul of the newly-annexed islands in the Pacific. The action of Germany in annexing these places is understood to be the result of negotiations which have taken place between the English and Genran Governments, and which commenced in July last.

In discussing questions of the annexation of a portion of New Guinea and several Pacific islands by Germany, the "Echo" applauds annexation, and the "Observer" writes approving Prince Bismarck's intention to create populous German colonies in the Pacific. The action of the Reichvtag in repealing the law empowering the authorities to expel priests from the Empire is stated to have met -«ith general condemnation in (lermany.

Princo Bismarck to Travel. It is^ rumoured ia diplomatical circles that Prince Bismarck, German Chancellor, intends to start on a travelling tour for the purpose of recruiting his health. A sensation has been created in Paris by a report that Bismarck shortly intends to visit that capital.
