Melbourne, Dec. 19. — Mr Berry, Chief 'Secretary, and Mr Langridge, Commissioner of Trade and Customs, proceed to jHobart next month to discuss with the

members of the Tasmanian Governmen the quostion of Reciprocal Tariff between the two colonies. Melbourne December 22. Mr Murk ay Smith, Agent-General in London, telegraphs to the Victorian Government that he has seen Sir Kobort Herbert, permanent secretary of thb Colonial ollice, t»nd that official doubts the reported .German arnoxation of the northern portion of Now Guinea, and Islands of New Britain, New Iroland, New Hanover, and Admiralty G roup. Mr Smith adds that the German Embassy in London denies the truth of the information received to that eilect, Sydnkv, Dec. 10. — In tho sculling match which has been iixrd for tho IZSth of February between Clifford and Beach, the latter has forfeited by mistako, and the match has been declared ofl".
