Battery, — The returns of amalgam and gold For the week ending 6th inst. were as follows : New Find — 97 trucks, 9f ozs. Tailing, 320z. 1260z. gold. Colonist— f>o trucks, 26ozs gold. Welcome Tribute — 8 trucks, 7ozs 18 duts gold. Diamond Gaily— 24 trucks, 71ozs amalgam (h.w.) Canadian — 2 trucks (trial parcel) 6oz amalgam (c.w.) Premier — Tailings, 12ozs amalgam. Premier — The vein tiiat has been worked upon for some time past on t ; ie surface is now being followed in the old smithy level. It is there about two feet in thickness and continues to look well, much of the stone showing gold quite freely. A parcel of 20 loads will be crushed next week, and though it is not expecte I to yield so handsomely as tike last lot treated, a good payable return may be looked for. Diamod Gtully. — The crashing that has been going on during the last three weeks is just finished. The exact yield is not yet known ns the retorting has not taken place, but from the quantity of amalgam, on hand there can be noi doui;t that the yield will be remunerative.
Work in the mine is progressing satisfactorily. May Queen. — Men are ensued on the surface block above tho upper levpl, from which n lot of stuff hns already been #ot, and it is intended to have it crushed before the holidays. The yield is likely to be a fair one. Pkjsnix. — The reef cut in the low level has now been driven on about 18 feet. Gold has not yet been met, with, but the stone is of a most promising description, and by the time the face is carried under the payable part of the upper \vor.kinsrf» the, precious metal will in :ill prol ability he' 1 found. SnooKSR. — A 25-ton paired from this cliiini n now in course of treatment at the Wmoronyomai Battery, and will be finished early next week.
