NEW JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.

Wellington, December 10. A new commission of Justices of the Peace, adding 77 names, will be gazetted to morrow. The following are the names from Aucklani Provincial District :— R. T. Douglas, Thames ; Gr. P. Ewing, Tuakau — Manukau ; J. Gilmour, Coromandel ; R. M. Houston, Mongonui ; J. Irvine, Howick ; F. J. Johnston, Rangiouri— Waikato ; C. La Roche, Auckland; D. G. McDonnell, Auckland ; J. Newland, Ngaroto— Waipa ; C. Russell, Pukekohe — Manukau; Martin Welsh, Kaukapakapa — Waitemata ; A. Stevenson, Auckland.

The mistress of the public school at Hamilton, Otago, has been received into the Mount Ida Hospital suffering from brain fever. The local paper says she is ' * another victim of our high- pressure system of education,"
